Why do I have to enter my Social Security Number and personal
 information in the application?

Your name, date of birth, social security number, home address, and e-signature are required
on all online applications. This information is encrypted and securely transmitted to the State of
Alabama Department of Human Resources. If you are uncomfortable entering this information
online, use the link provided in the app to download and print a paper application that can be
mailed or delivered to a county Department of Human Resources office, or visit the office in
person for a paper application.
